The greatest strength of Emmanuel is her people – people committed to worshipping, learning, growing and serving together.
We do this through the following…
• CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES
Our children’s ministries includes programs for kids of all ages, from nursery through teens. In addition to our weekly programs, each summer we hold an exciting week long Vacation Bible Camp for children from JK through Grade 5.
• FOOD BANK MINISTRY
Through regular donations of non- perishable food items we support the ministry of the local Salvation Army Food Bank. Special food drives are also held at certain times of the year.
• HOSPITALITY TEAM
This team hosts fellowship time after each Sunday worship celebration. Fellowship time is an opportunity for members of the congregation and visitors to get to know each other.
The Keenagers is a monthly gathering for those fifty years of age and older. Activities include guest speakers, outings, food, fun, fellowship and a brief time of reflection.
• LADIES OF EMMANUEL
This team of dedicated women hold a number of annual events including a Beef Dinner and a Christmas Bazaar. The funds raised assist the work of the congregation. The Ladies also minister to the bereaved by serving lunch at funeral receptions held at Emmanuel, and support a number of charities.
• LEADERSHIP TEAM
The leadership team, called the Session, is composed of the Senior Pastor and elected elders (spiritual leaders). It is responsible for the overall leadership of the congregation, specifically with spiritual matters, oversight and planning. Elders are elected by the congregation and are set apart specifically for their leadership role.
• MANAGEMENT TEAM
Our Board of Managers is responsible for providing leadership in managing church finances and property. They prepare the annual budget. Emmanuel is committed, as a registered charity, to be transparent and financially accountable. Members of the Board are elected at the annual congregational meeting in April.
• MEN’S BREAKFAST
The Men’s Breakfast is a ministry open to all men at Emmanuel and to guests. The group meets seven or eight times a year, usually on the first Saturday of the month, for a time of food and fellowship. The meal is followed by a devotional and discussion time.
• MISSION INVOLVEMENT
Emmanuel supports the mission initiatives of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, both in Canada and overseas, as well as that of other Christian organizations.
Through our support of Presbyterian World Service and Development we are involved in humanitarian work in several countries, especially in crisis situations.
• TECHNICAL TEAM
The technical team is responsible for our sound and video ministry. This includes a wireless system for the hearing impaired.
• WELCOME MINISTRY TEAM
This team of trained volunteers is responsible for ushering and welcoming at the church doors before and after worship, staffing our information desk and other special events. Our goal is to be a friendly and welcoming church family.
